چکیده

Grass is generally considered as one of the major agricultural products and covers over 90% of Irish agricultural land. While useful as an animal feedstock it can also be used for energy production. Here batch mesophilic anaerobic digestion of grass silage was studied. The methane concentration in the biogas clearly showed that grass silage has a high affinity to produce a high quality methane steam between 70-80%. Investigation of the effect of inoculum to substrate ratio on methane yield from grass silage using BMP (batch) anaerobic digester under mesophilic conditions, showed that the optimum I/S ratio is approximately 1 with a maximum methane yield of 0.385 m 3 kg -

Biotechnological application of sustainable biogas production through dry anaerobic digestion of Napier grass

Napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum), represents an interesting substrate for biogas production. The research project evaluated biogas potential production from dry anaerobic digestion of Napier grass using batch experiment. To enhance the biogas production from ensiled Napier grass, thermal and alkaline pre-treatments were performed in batch mode. Alkali hydrolysis of Napier grass was performed...

A new kinetic model for biogas production from co-digestion by batch mode

Coming out from the growth kinetics, the Gompertz model has been developed and considered as the best one for simulating the biogas production from anaerobic digestion. However, the model has failed to describe the starting point of the process, and no-sense of lag phase constant has been pointed out. Thus, the goal of this study is to develop a new kinetic model of biogas production with meani...

Sustainability assessment of biogas production from buffalo grass and dung: biogas purification and bio-fertilizer

Biomass from wetland aquatic grass and buffalo grass can be exploited for biogas production, because this substrate is plenteous and does not compete with food production. In this study, the grass substrate was physically pretreated by boiling with different retention time to increase its biodegradability and was examined in batch mode. Boiling pretreatment suggested that 100 °C with 2 h retent...
